A Tough Lesson for Students

One of the cool things I get to do is teach our DTS students about Evangelism, and then every Friday morning take them onto the streets to share their faith with people.  We do this in lots of ways, and today we sent the students out with surveys about the Bible. What is amazing, is when I asked the students how do they know for sure that the Bible is indeed true and reliable, they all looked at me like a deer looking into headlights. This is sad, but true for many of us Christians.   So, I gave a short teaching on the 5 points of how we can be certain the Bible is reliable, and then sent them out to the streets.  They ended up giving out 35 Gospel of Johns, and they got the opportunity to share their faith.  This was a touch lesson for the students today.....that  we must know what and why we believe.  At the end of the day, one student said, "I was rejected 15 times."    Another got to sit with a man and pray for him and show God's love.  That's how it goes when we cast seeds and share God's Word.

How Coffee Changes Lives

One of the things I have the privalege to do is have coffee with youth pastors in our city.  I do this for four main reasons.  The first, is to foster a friendship. Second, is to help build a bridge of relationship between YWAM and local youth pastors and churches.  Third, is to pray with them, network with them, and get more familiar with what is going on in our city with youth groups.  And the fourth reason, is to see through our relationship, kids eventually come do a missions trip with Mission Adventures.  Why?  Because short term mission trips changes lives.  That's the end goal of these many cups of coffee I have with youth pastors.....friendships forged, bridges built, and youth sent on missions trips.  All from a cup of coffee.  The above picture is of a good friend of mine who is a youth pastor of a small Baptist church here in Salem.  This summer, he is taking some of his high schoolers to Colombia, and then they are returning to Salem to do a local missions trip to Salem through Mission Adventures.  Awesome.
